Common questions
Do you have an office in Winnipeg?
No. TEO Counselling is online only — every session is online, wherever you are in the province. That is deliberate rather than a limitation: it means someone in Thompson or Steinbach has the same access as someone in the city, and it is why there is no waitlist.
Is online therapy covered by Manitoba Health?
No. Counselling and psychotherapy are not covered by provincial health plans anywhere in Canada. Coverage comes through extended health benefits, employee assistance programmes, or private payment. You receive a receipt after each session for submission to your insurer.
Can I be seen if I live outside Winnipeg or Brandon?
Yes. The service is province-wide. All you need is a private space and a reasonably stable internet connection — and if the connection is unreliable, sessions can run by phone instead.
How quickly can I be seen?
There is currently no waitlist. The booking calendar shows real availability rather than an estimate, so you can see the next open consultation time before you book.
What if I am not sure therapy is what I need?
That is what the free consultation is for, and it is a reasonable thing to be unsure about. If a different kind of support would serve you better, you will be told so directly.
Where can I find free counselling in Manitoba?
Klinic Community Health in Winnipeg offers free drop-in counselling: a one-time session with a trained counsellor, no appointment, for anyone 13 or older, at 167 Sherbrook Street. Klinic's crisis line, (204) 786-8686, is free around the clock. If you are employed, your Employee Assistance Program (EAP) may cover a few sessions. More options are on our free and low-cost list.
